Daniela Silva Fontoura de Barcellos is a distinguished Brazilian jurist with a solid academic and institutional record. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), with research carried out at the École Normale Supérieure de Paris; she also holds a Master's degree in Law from the same university and currently serves as Coordinator of the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Direito (Graduate Program in Law, PPGD) at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), one of the most prestigious universities in the country. She has developed a body of work centered on the intersection of civil law, human rights, vulnerable groups and public policy, particularly with regard to the rights of women, persons with disabilities and hypervulnerable populations. Alongside her research, she has carried out substantial institutional work as an ad hoc consultant to CAPES and as a speaker and organizer at numerous international academic gatherings. Backed by solid further training in the sociology of law, legal history and political theory, her work stands out for its academic rigor, social commitment and fundamental-rights perspective. She has contributed as an author and speaker at dozens of scholarly and legal events on gender-based violence, inclusion, civil codification, access to justice, the 2030 Agenda and comparative legal systems.
